What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Snellville Christian Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom,  justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."
Genesis 1:1

Jesus

We believe Jesus is the Son of God, the Savior of the world and the only way to God.
"Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
 John 14:6

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit works to convict, encourage and seal the believer in a saving, eternal relationship.
"I will ask the father and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever - the Spirit of Truth."
John 14:16

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the Word of God and the authority in all matters of faith.

"All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correction and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
2 Timothy 3:16-17

Communion
We believe in celebrating communion every Sunday in
remembrance of our Savior’s sacrifice and in
obedience to His instruction (I Corinthians 11:23-28)

Salvation

We believe that all have willfully sinned and fallen short of God's standard, but that there is forgiveness and hope in Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23)
We believe the Bible teaches that salvation – the forgiveness of sins – is only by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ (Romans 5:9; Ephesians 2:8-9)
We believe the Bible teaches that salvation comes by putting faith in Christ, repenting of sin, confessing Christ and being baptized into Christ. (Romans 5:1-2 / Luke 24:45-47; Acts 3:19; 17:30; 2 Peter 3:9 / Matthew 10:32; Romans 10:9; Philippians 2:11; 1 John 4:15 / Acts 2:38, Romans 6:1-7; Galatians 3:27; Colossians 2:12; 1 Peter 3:21)

"And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
Acts 4:12

The Church

We believe the church is the body of Jesus Christ, made up of people who have entrusted their life to Him and to each other. We understand the Church to be all people worldwide who have put their trust in Jesus for salvation.

Just as each of us has one body with many members and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many, form one body and each member belongs to all the others."
Romans 12:4-5

Resurrection

Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.
